Ancient woodlands on a steep hill climb overlooking Rothesay Bay
Skeoch Woods are set on a steep hillside with lots of steps to access the various areas. It's not a huge wood but is great for play, picnics or dog walking and has stunning views right across Rothesay Bay.
The wood is accessed from the seafront promenade Argyle Place opposite Isle of Bute Sailing Club. There are several entrances and paths weaving through the woods, all with steep steps. Plentiful free parking is available along the seafront.

Summary review by DW
Despite being very hilly with some high steps to climb, this small wood is full of lovely clearings, great views across Rothesay Bay and gives the feeling of being really quite remote yet it is so accessible from town. Great for the dog to run around and play in the leaves, although down at ground level it can be a bit muddy and pooey from less considerate owners :(.
