A lovely soft shallow sandy beach ideal for family outings
A lovely soft shallow sandy beach ideal for family outings, paddling, swimming, sandcastle building and so much more. A typical "bucket-and-spade" beach popular with visitors due to the rather good tearoom and being served by the island's buses.
Just a 2 mile stroll from Port Bannatyne along the disused tramway line which is now a nice level hardcore footpath, many visitors won't even need to take the car.
At the tearoom you'll also find a children's play area, ice cream hatch and glamping pods for hire just off the beach itself. Probably Bute's most popular beach for all of these reasons, even in the height of summer it never really gets that busy - certainly nothing like the crowded beaches of England.
Dogs Welcome

Ettrick Bay Tearoom has toilets for the use of patrons, plus they operate publicly usable toilets accessed from the rear of the building during opening hours.

The Tearoom offers a wide range of meals, drinks and snacks and is well worth a visit. They are dog friendly throughout and very highly regarded by locals.

Compared with other island beaches, Ettrick Bay doesn't seem to attract much marine wildlife although at the rocky sections at either end of the bay you may sometimes find the occasional seal or otter family.

The tearoom car park is for patrons, and holds around 30 vehicles. Many visitors choose to park on the seafront where there is plenty of room.
