Perfect when heading north from Bute towards the highlands, or towns such as Dunoon and Oban. This short crossing operates every half an hour from early morning until mid evening and also offers a useful "backup" in case of delays with the main Wemyss Bay crossing - you can choose to drive around the long way to Glasgow (typically 90 mins) via the stunning Rest and Be Thankful followed by Loch Lomond, or head for the Western Ferries service near Dunoon and cross to Gourock to pick up your journey.
