In this special two-part lecture, join Dr. Rosie Waine and our 2023 University of Glasgow Dress and Textile Histories placement student, Hannah Bradshaw for an exploration of tartan as an iconic symbol, textile and pattern. This is a very special opportunity to look closely at the Royal Stewart tartan cloak (c. 1819) worn by the 2nd Marquess of Bute in his portrait by Sir Henry Raeburn, and to discover how Highland dress became an integral part of Scottish identity
