Public Tennis Courts Consultation
Promoting Inclusion Through Sport CIC and the Isle of Bute Shinty and Amateur Athletics Club are in talks to potentially start to seek funding to bring the tennis courts at The Meadows back into public use.
Allwyn Crawford, Director, Promoting Inclusion, posted on social media "This is to keep the community in the loop on where we are with talks between Promoting Inclusion Through Sport CIC and the Shinty Club. A positive meeting was held recently with assistance from Mount Stuart.
The proposal agreed between the Shinty Club and Promoting Inclusion, is a 12 month timeframe to allow our team time to gauge interest in the resurfacing of 2/3 tennis courts (the club will keep this area free for this time).
How much would the courts be used, and by how many participants/community groups. I know some of the schools are keen to see tennis on the Island, so it's about putting pen to paper and drawing up some ideas to move forward. Then it will be a question of funding.
In the meantime, Promoting Inclusion are keen to use the clubs outdoor area next summer for 2 small sports festivals which we are looking forward to.
I would like to see a multi purpose court in use (thoughts?) 2 tennis courts, 1 multi purpose court which can be used for netball, basketball etc."
Allwyn is now calling for any suggestions and possible assistance to help get this project off the ground - by first of all measuring public opinion and then hopefully sourcing funding and moving the development forward.
